A dental emergency is any oral health issue that requires immediate attention to relieve severe pain, stop bleeding, treat infection or prevent permanent damage. Common emergencies include tooth fractures, knocked-out teeth, abscesses, facial swelling, trauma to the mouth or jaw, and uncontrolled bleeding. Delaying treatment can lead to complications or long-term damage, so it’s important to act quickly.

Process
1. Initial Call or Contact: If you’re experiencing a dental emergency, call SmileCross Dental immediately. Our team will gather information about symptoms, the nature of the injury or pain, and determine the urgency of care.
2. Same-Day Evaluation: Dr. Morgan or Dr. Gardocki will perform a clinical examination, often supported by digital X-rays, to identify the underlying cause of pain or trauma. Your dentist will evaluate the severity and determine the most effective course of treatment.
3. Immediate Treatment or Stabilization: If the issue can be treated immediately, such as a dental infection, a lost filling or a fractured tooth, we begin treatment during the emergency visit. In some cases, we may stabilize the situation temporarily (e.g., applying medication, placing a temporary crown) and schedule a follow-up for full treatment.

Next Steps
4. Treatment Planning and Follow-up: After initial care, we create a detailed treatment plan to restore full dental function and health, if needed. This may include additional visits for procedures such as root canal therapy, tooth replacement or further restorative work.
5. Post-Treatment Care Instructions: You will receive clear instructions on managing recovery, preventing infection and reducing discomfort at home.
